Chandler is an ACS-verified Level I trauma center — one of only two in Kentucky and the only one serving central and eastern Kentucky — feeding what UK calls the area's busiest emergency department. RNs see the region's highest-acuity trauma, stroke, and critical-care cases.

The UK Markey Cancer Center is Kentucky's only NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center, with a dedicated inpatient cancer floor and a 32-bed blood-and-marrow transplant unit — strong ground for oncology and BMT nurses.

Active solid-organ and bone-marrow transplant programs, the Gill Heart & Vascular Institute, and the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute give transplant, cardiac, and neuroscience RNs high-complexity caseloads at academic scale.

Chandler runs the region's only Level IV NICU — the highest level of newborn care — and Golisano Children's Hospital at UK (formerly Kentucky Children's Hospital), giving neonatal and pediatric RNs dedicated tracks.

UK HealthCare runs Epic, with UK HealthCare MyChart as the patient portal and EpicCare Link for referring providers. RNs chart in Epic, which travelers familiar with the system can pick up quickly.
