It's Vermont's only academic medical center and the only Level I (adult) trauma center in the state, serving as the tertiary referral hospital for about one million people across Vermont and northern New York.

No — it's an ACS-verified Level I Adult / Level II Pediatric trauma center. It was, however, the first U.S. hospital verified for both adults and children.

UVM has the only NICU in Vermont (Level III), so neonatal RNs here cover the state's most fragile newborns.

The 45-bed emergency department (10 beds for trauma and resuscitation) runs more than 65,000 visits a year, with a separate pediatric ED.
