Description
VEA Health is seeking a full-time Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant to join the growing Emergency Department at Yoakum Community Hospital in Yoakum, Texas. This is an opportunity to practice in a lower-volume ED with meaningful community impact and strong specialty support.
The ED features 6 dedicated beds with an annual volume of 6,000 visits (approximately 16 patients per day). Pediatric patients account for 26% of visits. Physician shift options include 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. or 8:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m. The admission rate is 5.1%, and the transfer rate is 1.4%. Average physician productivity is 0.31 patients per hour. Strong specialty backup is available in Gastroenterology, Urology, Cardiology, Podiatry, General Surgery, and Orthopedics. The EMR is MedHost.
Qualifications include Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine. ACLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications are required (ATLS waived if Board-Certified in Emergency Medicine). This is a permanent, full-time position offering a supportive environment and competitive compensation.
