Description
Mercy in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a dedicated GI/Endo Tech to join our team. In this role, you will support patient-centered care by performing technical tasks under the supervision of a licensed nurse. You'll assist physicians during endoscopic procedures, including tissue biopsies and advanced procedures like ERCP and PEG tube placement. Your responsibilities also include maintaining endoscopes, decontaminating equipment, and ensuring accurate communication with patients and staff.
This is a permanent, full-time position with a focus on the GI/Endoscopy unit. While pay is not disclosed, we offer a supportive environment where you can grow your skills. Shifts are typically daytime hours, but flexibility may be required. You'll play a key role in preparing procedure rooms, handling specimens, and documenting results for tests like Breath Testing and Capsule PH Bravo.
Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, with preference for CNA, EMT-B, or nursing program experience. Current BLS certification is required, along with Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse and Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training. Previous patient care tech or endoscopy experience is a plus. Join Mercy, an independent community hospital serving Cedar Rapids for over 120 years, and make a difference in patient care.
