Permanent General Education Teacher

Mercy is seeking a dedicated General Education Teacher to join our team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In this role, you will support Mercy's philosophy of patient-centered care by administering and delivering foundational educational programs across the organization. This includes oversight of the BCLS Program and credentialing of new BCLS instructors, as well as managing additional learning and development programs that support staff growth. You will ensure that staff have the tools necessary to provide safe patient care in alignment with the Mercy Touch.

This is a permanent, full-time position with a day shift and 40 scheduled hours per week. Pay is not disclosed. As a General Education Teacher, you will understand basic principles of adult education, deliver training to end users, maintain certifications, serve as an education resource, and coordinate training schedules. You will also serve as a support function on the floor and administer the BCLS and CMA programs.

Requirements include prior experience teaching adults (minimum two years clinical experience desired), an Associate's degree or healthcare-related certification (Paramedic, RN, LPN) required (Bachelor's preferred), and current licensure or certification as appropriate for the profession. Current AHA BCLS Instructor certification is required, and AHA Instructor Trainer or Faculty status must be obtained within six months of hire. Strong communication, presentation, and customer relation skills are essential.
