Description
We are seeking a Safety Technician for a 13-week travel contract at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. In this role, you will be responsible for the collection, segregation, and management of hazardous chemical wastes generated throughout Duke University and Duke University Hospital, including clinics and research laboratories. Secondary duties include managing hazardous pharmaceutical, radiological, and universal wastes. You will work in accordance with all applicable Federal, State, and local regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT, NRC, RCRA).
This position offers a schedule of 5x8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with an average weekly pay of $842. The ideal candidate holds an Associate's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field (highly preferred) and has 1-3+ years of experience. A valid driver's license and DOT RCRA certification are required. You must be able to lift 50 lbs., manipulate 400 lb. drums, and wear respiratory protection. Work environments range from office conditions to IDLH atmospheres requiring protective clothing.
